Pallikal will aim to defend her gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, and Karthik says that supporting her to achieve her goals means everything to him.
Cricketer Dinesh Karthik and squash ace Dipika Pallikal form one of the most powerful couples in Indian sports.
While DK made headlines for his stellar knock in the final of the recently-concluded Nidahas Trophy, Pallikal has been in the news as she prepares to defend her Commonwealth Games (CWG) doubles gold medal with long-time partner Joshna Chinappa.
With the CWG 2018 beginning on Wednesday, athletes from around the world have departed to Gold Coast for the mega event.
On Sunday, Pallikal caught her plane to join the rest of the Indian athletes at the Games Village. Bidding her a warm goodbye, of course, was her doting husband Karthik.
The cricketer took to social media to lend his support to his wife as she bids to brings more glory to the country. In a heartfelt post, Karthik expressed how much it means to him to be able to support his wife.
"To be able to support my wife to achieve her goals is everything to me! 4 years back we both got on a plane heading home wd a Gold medal from the Commonwealth games , today as she lands for yet another commonwealth games after 4 long years of hardwork , I can only hope that she has a time of her life in Gold Coast," Karthik wrote in a lengthy post on Twitter.
"These 4 years have been tough , she’s worked hard , lived out of a suit case for many months , looked after our home, supported me through everything and yet never once complained about anything. For me to be able to support her is she has a time of her life in Gold Coast.

This isn't the first time the duo has expressed support for each other on social media. After India's epic triumph at the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka last month, thanks to DK's sensational burst right at the end, Pallikal took to Instagram to share her happiness after her husband's heroics. She posted a picture of Karthik and added a hashtag 'proud wife'.
