'Best Match of my life': Saina Nehwal ties the knot with P Kashyap, announces on Twitter

Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has got married to P Kashyap, who is also an accomplished badminton player. 

Saina took to Twitter to make the formal announcement. 

She posted:

"Saina got married as per court rules today at about 11.30 (AM)," her father Harvir Singh told PTI.The wedding took place at Saina's residence in Orion villas at Raidurgam in Cyberabad.

"It was a small gathering of about 40 guests, including relatives of the Saina and Kashyap's families. "It was a very simple ceremony and December 16th will be the reception," Singh said.The guests included Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana E S L Narasimhan, according to Singh. 

Last month, they started extending their wedding invitation to important personalties, including Telangana MLA KT Rama Rao, film star Chiranjeevi, owner of Hyderabad Hunters (PBL franchise) VRK Rao.

Saina and Kashyap's wedding is the latest among a string of high-profile weddings.

While both badminton players are said to have been dating for the past 10 years, only last month either has acknowledged the relationship publicly. "We started travelling for bigger tours from 2007-08 onwards. We played tournaments together, trained together and slowly, started paying more attention to each other's matches,” Saina told reporters. 

“In the competitive world that we live in, it is difficult to get close to someone. But somehow we both found it very easy to talk to each other, talk about our matches. The feeling gradually grew.” She also revealed why she thought it was the right time to get married.
