Aug 18 (The Sports Xchange) - The Chicago Cubs placed left-hander Jon Lester on the 10-day disabled list Friday with left lat tightness and shoulder fatigue, but the injury is not expected to be season-ending.

Lester was pulled in the second inning of Thursday's game against the Cincinnati Reds due to the injury and saw a team doctor after the game. He allowed nine runs (seven earned) in 1 2/3 innings as the Reds outlasted the Chicago Cubs 13-10.

"There's no minimum or maximum, just that it's a 10-day stay and then we'll figure it out," Cubs manager Joe Maddon told reporters Friday of Lester's return.

Grossman singled in his first at-bat after the collision but was replaced before his turn came up the second time around.

To replace Grossman on the 25-man roster, the Twins recalled catcher Mitch Garver from Triple-A Rochester.
