Aug 15 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Tuesday's Major League Baseball games:

Dodgers 6, White Sox 1

Joc Pederson was hit in the leg by a pitch with the bases loaded in the eighth inning to force in the go-ahead run as the Los Angeles Dodgers continued their winning ways with a 6-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

Pinch hitter Austin Barnes and Corey Seager added two-run singles as Los Angeles (84-34), which owns the best record in baseball, moved 50 games above .500 for the first time since 1953. Dodgers starter Alex Wood yielded six hits and one run while striking out six in seven innings.

Chicago's Tim Anderson homered on the first pitch, giving him four home runs and eight RBIs in his past seven games. White Sox starter Miguel Gonzalez allowed one run on five hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked three.

Red Sox 10, Cardinals 4

Hanley Ramirez and Sandy Leon drove in two runs apiece in an eight-run fifth inning that carried Boston past St. Louis.

Ten consecutive Red Sox batters reached base, and 13 came to the plate while chasing Mike Leake (7-11) and propelling Boston to its 11th win in 13 games. Rick Porcello (7-14), helped by a fourth-inning triple play turned on a Yadier Molina grounder, allowed three runs in seven innings.

Jackie Bradley Jr. also drove in two runs, and Xander Bogaerts contributed three singles to a 15-hit Boston attack that included two more hits for rookie sensation Rafael Devers.

Indians 8, Twins 1

Carlos Santana hit two home runs and Austin Jackson added a three-run blast as Cleveland went deep five times en route to its fifth straight victory.

Jason Kipnis and Edwin Encarnacion added solo home runs as the Indians opened up a six-game lead on Minnesota in the American League Central. Santana socked one home run from each side of the plate, the fifth time he has done so during his career.

The five homers were more than enough run support for Danny Salazar, who allowed three hits and one run in seven innings. Salazar (5-5) retired 12 consecutive batters in the middle innings and set down 16 of the final 17 Twins he faced.

Nationals 3, Angels 1

Howie Kendrick hit two solo home runs, and Gio Gonzalez allowed no runs and two hits in six innings as Washington snapped Los Angeles' six-game winning streak.

Gonzalez (11-5) walked three and struck out four. He didn't give up a hit until there were two outs in the sixth, when Cameron Maybin reached on an infield single.

Kendrick hit solo homers in the third -- the 100th of his career -- and fifth innings to open a 2-0 lead. Sean Doolittle threw a perfect ninth to get his ninth save with the Nationals.

Reds 2, Cubs 1

Billy Hamilton delivered a ninth-inning RBI single, and Luis Castillo pitched six shutout innings as Cincinnati defeated Chicago.

Scooter Gennett's eighth-inning sacrifice fly off the Cubs' Pedro Strop (3-3) broke a scoreless tie, driving in Joey Votto. In the ninth, Votto walked, reached third on an Adam Duvall single and scored on Hamilton's hit, making it 2-0.

The Cubs got within a run in the ninth when Ben Zobrist singled in Kyle Schwarber, who led off the inning with a single. However, with the tying run on third base, the Reds' Raisel Iglesias struck out Ian Happ to end the game and pick up his 21st save.

Astros 9, Diamondbacks 4

Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel and Jose Altuve had two hits apiece, and George Springer doubled in two runs in Houston's victory over Arizona.

Max Stassi doubled and homered, Gurriel and Bregman had RBI triples, and starting pitcher Brad Peacock also had a two-run double as the Astros pounded out eight extra-base hits while jumping to an 8-0 lead. Houston, which leads the majors in runs, hits, doubles and homers, had scored 17 runs while losing six of its previous seven.

Ketel Marte and Paul Goldschmidt had two hits apiece, and Jake Lamb drove in two runs for the Diamondbacks, who have lost five of seven.

Athletics 10, Royals 8

Matt Joyce hit a solo home run in the first inning and a three-run double during a six-run rally in the eighth as Oakland outlasted Kansas City.

Khris Davis hit his 33rd home run for the A's, a two-run shot in the third inning, while Matt Olson had a solo blast in the second. Blake Treinen (1-0) was charged with two runs in the eighth, but he pitched a scoreless ninth for his first win with Oakland.

The Royals' Drew Butera and Eric Hosmer hit two-run homers and Mike Moustakas a solo shot, all in the top of the eighth inning, when Kansas City overcame a 4-3 deficit to build an 8-4 lead.

Mariners 3, Orioles 1

Andrew Albers allowed one run in five innings as Seattle snapped its season-high, five-game losing streak.

Albers, acquired in a minor league trade with the Atlanta Braves on Friday, took the injured James Paxton's spot in the rotation. He allowed six hits and one walk while striking out four. Four Mariners relievers combined for four perfect innings as the final 20 Baltimore batters were retired in order.

Jonathan Schoop gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the first inning.

Giants 9, Marlins 4

Giancarlo Stanton homered for the sixth consecutive game, but Miami blew a seventh-inning lead and lost to San Francisco.

Stanton leads the majors with 44 homers. He has gone deep 11 times in his past 12 games and 23 times in 35 contests. He is on pace to hit 60 homers this year, a milestone reached by only five players in major league history.

The Giants took advantage of a poor night by the Marlins' bullpen, especially Junichi Tazawa (2-3), who did not register an out in the seventh inning, allowing four hits and three runs. Denard Span went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs for San Francisco.

Yankees 5, Mets 4

Sonny Gray pitched effectively into the seventh inning in his home debut, and the Yankees hit a pair of homers off Jacob deGrom before holding off the Mets.

The Yankees won despite Aroldis Chapman wobbling to the finish. The closer allowed a two-run homer by rookie Amed Rosario with one out in the ninth but preserved Gray's first win for the Yankees and notched his 16th save.

Gray (7-7) took a shutout into the seventh before giving up rookie Dominic Smith's first career home run, a two-run shot. He allowed two runs and five hits in six-plus innings before exiting to a nice hand from the crowd.

Brewers 3, Pirates 1

Keon Broxton blasted a pinch-hit home run, and Zach Davies worked into the seventh as Milwaukee won its third straight game.

Davies (14-6) held the Pirates to one run, scattering six hits and two walks over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out two.

Ivan Nova (10-10) went six innings and was charged with two runs (one earned), four hits and three walks while striking out four. Travis Shaw, who began the day 10-for-13 against Nova, reached three times against him Tuesday.

Braves 4, Rockies 3

Colorado's four-time Gold Glove third baseman Nolan Arenado committed a rare error that allowed Atlanta to score with two outs in the eighth inning as the Braves evened the four-game series at a game apiece.

Sam Freeman (2-0) pitched the seventh, benefiting greatly when Freddie Freeman started a nifty 3-6-3 double play on Charlie Blackmon's grounder after pinch hitter Pat Valaika began the inning with a single. Aroldys Vizcaino hit 100 mph with his fastball as he worked the ninth to earn his seventh save in nine opportunities.

Nick Markakis tied the game at 3 for the Braves when he hit his seventh home run, a shot to right-center with two outs in the sixth.

Rays 6, Blue Jays 4

Lucas Duda hit a two-run homer, Wilson Ramos hit a solo shot, and Blake Snell won for the first time in nearly a year as Tampa Bay defeated Toronto.

Snell (1-6) allowed seven hits, one walk and four runs while striking out four in six innings. The left-hander had not won in the majors since Sept. 22, a span of 16 winless starts. Alex Colome earned his 35th save with a perfect ninth, striking out two.

Josh Donaldson hit a three-run homer for the Blue Jays, who had a three-game winning string stopped. Marco Estrada (5-8) allowed 10 hits, four walks and six runs in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out three.

Rangers 10, Tigers 4

Joey Gallo and Mike Napoli hit back-to-back home runs off Justin Verlander in the fourth inning, and Texas used a pair of four-run frames to roll past over Detroit.

Gallo's two-run homer in the Rangers' four-run fourth was his 34th of the season. Napoli was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, including a two-run single in Texas' four-run eighth.

Robinson Chirinos smacked his career-high 14th home run for the Rangers. Every hitter in Texas' lineup registered a hit except Rougned Odor, who had two walks and would have stolen home in the seventh had the Tigers' Daniel Stumpf not committed a balk.

Padres 8, Phillies 4

Cory Spangenberg homered and drove in four runs, and Hector Sanchez added a two-run homer as San Diego topped Philadelphia.

Padres starter Dinelson Lamet (7-4) allowed two runs on three hits over seven innings to win his fourth consecutive decision. He didn't allow a hit until rookie Jorge Alfaro hit his first career home run, a two-run liner to center with two outs in the fifth.

Spangenberg extended his hitting streak to seven games with a two-run double, capping San Diego's three-run first inning off Mark Leiter Jr. (1-3). The Phillies rookie allowed eight runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks with a strikeout in five innings.
