Indian athlete G Lakshmanan Govindam was stripped off his bronze medal after he was disqualified for stepping out of the track during his 10,000m race event in the ongoing Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta on Sunday.

Indian athlete G Lakshmanan Govindam was stripped off his bronze medal after he was disqualified for stepping out of the track during his 10,000m race event in the ongoing Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta on Sunday.
After Govindam’s medal, the eighth day at the Asian Games became India’s best because they had clinched seven medals, the most since Day one.
G Lakshmanan has been disqualified for a foot outside the track during 10000m final.

However, a minor mistake from Govindam turned out to be costly for him and India. The Indian runner completed the race in 29 minutes and 44 seconds (29:44.91) and his medal was India’s first medal in 20 years in this particular event.
Gulab Chand won the same medal in 1998 when the Games were held in Bangkok.
