Earlier, Dipa Karmakar, who made her first appearance in a multi-event discipline in two years, announced on Wednesday that she has pulled out of the team event after hurting her knee in the ongoing Asian Games at Jakarta.

According to reports, on Tuesday Dipa hurt her right knee, on which she underwent a surgery last year, while landing during a practice session while preparing for the qualifications for Wednesday’s team event.

Because of the injury, she could not give her best on Tuesday as she failed to qualify for the individual final in vault.

While she failed to progress, her compatriots Budda Aruna Reddy and Pranati Nayak made it to the final. However, the Tripura girl made it to the final in the individual beam event, even when that’s not her forte, and will participate in that.
