Arsene Wenger will step down as Arsenal manager after the end of the season after 22 years in charge. He announced his decisoin to step down on Friday.

Wenger's announcement means that one of England and world's biggest club is now looking for a new manager.

From former Gunners like Patrick Vieira and Mikel Arteta, to experienced heads like Carlo Ancelotti and Joachim Low, let's take a look at the likely candidates to replace Arsene Wenger.

Patrick Vieira

Arsene Wenger has himself discussed Vieira’s “potential” as his successor earlier this week. Vieira was part of the 'Invincibles' and would be popular with club supporters. However, he is not very experienced when it comes to top level football management. He is currently managing MLS franchise New York City FC, which is linked to Manchester City.

Joachim Low

Low is one of the most successful coach and managers. The Germany national team coach has taken his side to new heights, winning the 2014 World Cup in impressive style. However, he will be taking Germany to the 2018 World Cup too.

Mikel Arteta

Another former Arsenal players, Arteta played an active role in Pep Guardiola’s first two years at Manchester City behind the scenes.

Brendan Rodgers

Rodgers is the bookies favourite. The Celtic manager took Liverpool close to the Premier League title before departing in 2015. He has managed Celtic to a sensational treble last season during a remarkable 69-game unbeaten run in domestic competition in Scotland.

Thomas Tuchel

Tuchel, the former Mainz and Borussia Dortmund manager, has built an impressive reputation in the Bundesliga. However, he is expected to take over at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Luis Enrique

Enrique left Barcelona last season after winning five trophies including the Champions League. Enough said.

Carlo Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti has a lot of Premier League experience, winning the title with Chelsea in 2009-10. He was sacked by Bayern Munich in September.
