Come Friday, and the equations within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will never be the same.

With BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary filing a separate affidavit in the Supreme Court that blames former BCCI president and his one time mentor N Srinivasan for stalling the process of implementing Justice Lodha panel recommendations, the split within the board is wide open.

In his affidavit, Choudhary has also come down hard on his colleague and BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry for not siding with Lodha panel reforms.

This comes a day after SC-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) filed a hard-hitting status report that may seal the fate of some BCCI officials on Friday.

Chaudhry, along with other BCCI acting officials, had filed an undertaking in SC “to ensure implementation of its July 18 orders”.

“Chaudhry lacks the courage and conviction to implement the reforms despite filing an affidavit to that effect in court,” COA stated in a 37-page report, which is accompanied by audio recordings of BCCI meetings to substantiate its claims.

Knowing the background of BCCI politics, this development has come as big jolt to Srinivasan and Co. DNA has learnt that despite this setback, the Srini camp will “insist on time to file their replies to COA’s status report”.

Meanwhile, the COA report has endorsed the Cricket Association of Pondicherry (CAP).

It was DNA’s report which brought to light how a defunct body by the name of Pondicherry Cricket Association (PCA) under the guidance of Srinivasan was trying to create confusion within cricket officials.

This despite the fact that PCA was termed “defunct or inactive” by Registrar of Companies (Puducherry) since 1975. Puducherry chief minister, V Narayanasamy, has now written to COA chief Vinod Rai stating that “CAP (with P Damodaren as secretary) is the only recognised body to run the affairs in state.”

Thakur says sorry

On Thursday, ex-BCCI chief Anurag Thakur submitted an “unconditional and unequivocal” apology to the SC special bench. In his apology, the defendant said he had never intended to undermine the top court’s majesty.

“I humbly submit that it was never the intention of the deponent to undermine the majesty of this Court and since unintentionally some kind of misinformation and miscommunication has occurred, I unhesitatingly tender my unconditional and unequivocal apology to this Court,” Thakur, who was removed as BCCI boss by SC in January along with secretary Ajay Shirke, said in affidavit.
