While PSG, Bayern Munich, Liverpool are crowned champions, La Liga awaits to hand title between Real Madrid, Barcelona

Paris St Germain (PSG) of Ligue 1, Liverpool from Premier League and Bundesliga, Bayern Munich have all been crowned champions either during the coronavirus pandemic without matches being played or after the restart of the tournament.

With matches still left to be completed in these leagues, there is also La Liga, that is waiting to crow a club a champion. While other leagues had clubs with major point differences between the top two, La Liga is seeing a tough fight take place between arch-rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barcelona’s hopes of staying in front of Real Madrid took a hit after they were held 2-2 at Celta Vigo. They have opened the way for Real to go top by two points if they win at bottom-placed Espanyol on Sunday.

1. Ligue 1: PSG

Paris St Germain (PSG) were crowned Ligue 1 champions after the season was ended amid the coronavirus pandemic. 

 

PSG, who have now won their seventh French title in the last eight years, held a 12-point lead over second-placed Marseille when the season was suspended in March.

2. Premier League: Liverpool

Liverpool have been crowned as champions of the Premier League 2019-20 season after 30 long years.

 

The victory came after Chelsea defeated Manchester City 2-1 on Thursday (local time) at Stamford Bridge, meaning the Merseyside have an unassailable 23-point lead over City with seven games left in the competition.

 

It was back in 1989-90 when the Reds last won the top-flight championship in England.

3. Bundesliga: Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich were crowned 2020 champions in Bundesliga after 1-0 victory against Werder Bremen. It was their eighth consecutive win.

 

The Poland star from, Robert Lewandowski scored the winning goal in the 43rd minute of the match in Bremen. He has also been named the Bundesliga`s Player of the Season.

 

Lewandowski became the first player to score in 11 consecutive Bundesliga matches earlier this season. Earlier this season, he also became the highest non-German goal-scorer in a single Bundesliga season, breaking the record previously held by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

 

Lewandowski has managed to score 33 goals this season and he is on course to be Bundesliga`s top-scorer for the fourth time in five seasons.
