India vs Netherlands Quarterfinal, Hockey World Cup 2018: Heartbreak for hosts as Dutch progress to semi-final

It's done and dusted at the Kalinga Stadium and India fails to find an equaliser here. The Dutch are off to their 10th World Cup semi-final and will face the Aussies, while England will take on Belgium in the second semifinal.

Team India definitely put up a great fight but in the end, they finished on the losing side and their wait for a semifinal will extend further. 

India 1 - 2 Netherlands 

Oh, dear! 

GOAAALLLLL & the Dutch go 2-1 up! 

A foul from India's Varun Kumar and that gifts Netherlands their fourth penalty corner of the game. Amit Rohidas leaves the line early, is asked to go out of the goal. Meanwhile, Mink van der Weerden scores with a straight drag flick down the middle. After failing to convert their previous three penalty strokes, the Dutch make no mistake this time.

India 1 - 2 Netherlands 

End of Quarter 3: The better ball possession was with the Netherlands side but both the team struggled inside the circle. Netherlands failed to convert any of their three penalty corners. Crucial final quarter coming up.

India 1 - 1 Netherlands

The third quarter is halfway in and things have begun to heat up here. Yet another close chance for the hosts but Akashdeep's reverse hit goes over the cross bar.

Just before the end of Quarter 1, the Dutch socre!  Netherlands’ attacker Thierry Brinkman shoots inside the post, Sreejesh's stick just gets the touch on the ball but cannot stop it from hitting the nets.

India 1 - 1 Netherlands 

GOALLLLLLL:

India earn their first penalty corner. Harmanpreet's sweep from the corner goes to a Dutch who saves it before a rebound from Akashdeep goes past the goalkeeper to give India the lead.

India 1 - 0 Netherlands 

The hosts so far have lost the ball so many times in the mid-field. They just should be happy that the Dutch have not been able to take advantage of the same.
