France's National Team Captain, Hugo Lloris, on Friday, said that Les Bleus have a good chance of winning the 2018 World Cup, though his squad is not mentioned often in the media as a favorite. Although Australia are not big names in football, unlike cricket, the French still would not want to take a risk by underestimating their opponents. A start with a win is always positive and gives the team the confidence to march forward.
Lloris stressed that Australia is a good team with many talented players who compete in Europe.
"We do not consider ourselves favorites to win the title, as there are many high-level teams in the competition, such as Brazil, Germany and Spain," the France international said at a press conference ahead of the Australia game.
Goalkeeper Lloris' ideas aside, France, which is set to compete in Group C along with Peru, Australia and Denmark, is one of the favorites to win the title, according to experts. But, they will have their exists from group stages in 2002, as defending champions, and 2010 in mind.
On the other hand, Australia have reached their fourth World Cup on the trot, fifth in total, and will be hoping to improve upon their return of zero points from three group games.
