This team played some superlative cricket over the last three years or so. And that’s why they were No 1. However, the 4-0 drubbing at the hands of England has exposed the chinks in India’s armour besides creating new ones. We at DNA argued and debated as to why Dhoni and most of his teammates shouldn’t get a zero for their English August. We finally decided to be a bit generous. Well, almost.

So Dhoni bites the dust. After 10 straight undefeated series, the skipper finds himself on the wrong side of a 4-0 scoreline and deservingly so. He was scratchy with the bat (and ball!), clumsy with the gloves and inept on the field. Failed to go for the kill in the first two Tests. Blundered by persisting with Raina and picking RP.
