With India’s population, it surprises many that India is not a force at the Olympics. Even though India still has to make a mark as a powerful nation at Olympics, it has made a small place for itself. We look at the potential prospects who will represent the country for the London Olympics 2012.
Abhinav Bindra (Shooting)
Abhinav Bindra , the only Indian who brought India's first ever individual gold medal at the Olympics is a sure shot medal prospect at the London Olympics. At the Beijing Olympics 2008, Bindra won a gold in men's 10m Air Rifle final after shooting a total of 700.5.
As the pressure to perform rises as the Olympics come closer Bindra has forgotten the past an is staying focused to the future, "London is a new day, I can’t transfer my past. I don’t remember the past...It is over. I want to win at the Olympics, as simple as that," said the ace rifle shooter.
Winning the national championship in Pune recently, Bindra is India’s biggest hope at the Olympics next year.
