London: Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that winning against the Big Four is the key to claiming the Premier League and Champions League titles.

Carlo Ancelotti has said that winning against the Big Four is the key to claiming the Premier League and Champions League titles.

Ancelotti's comment came after the Blues defeated Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Beating Man U and Liverpool was something the Blues had not managed last season, but Ancelotti has already turned that on its head with victories over both, thus helping his team take a five-point lead at the top of the table.

"It's important to get results against the big teams, and we have now won against Liverpool and Manchester United. But we have also lost against Wigan and Aston Villa and have to maintain concentration against other teams," The Sun quoted Ancelotti, as saying.

"We beat a very good team. A fantastic team and it's very difficult to beat United. The match was in the balance for 90 minutes and it was difficult to create a situation to score for both teams. The set-plays were important. We've lost at those in the past. Today we won and, in this situation, it was important," he added.

The 50-year-old further said it is vital for his players to carry forward the good work that they have put on till now.

"Until now, we've done very well, but you have to look at it at the end of the season. Now we are in a good position in the Premier League and the Champions League. We have to say 'thanks' to all the players because until now, they have done very well," Ancelotti said.

"We have to continue because during the season there will be other strong matches like this. It's important we've started the season very well, we have 30 points from 12 games. But the season is very long and we know that. We have to stay focused for the next matches," he added.
