Wayne Rooney sank Hull City over Ferguson's hairdryer fear

Striker Wayne Rooney has admitted that the fear of Alex Ferguson's hairdryer treatment spurred him on to sink Hull.

The Manchester United ace's woeful back pass led to a penalty which let Craig Fagan pull the Tigers level.

But Rooney made amends - adding to his first-half strike by forcing Andy Dawson into an own goal before setting up Dimitar Berbatov with an inch-perfect pass.

"I feel relieved because their equaliser came from my mistake.  It's the first time it has ever happened to me and it wasn't a nice feeling. I didn't want to let the lads down. But I was most worried about what the manager might say,” The Sun quoted Rooney, as saying.

"In the end he just said well done for getting the result. It was a mistake but we got the win in the end so he said, 'Thank you, you're not so bad!'  It was a wide open game. Hull went forward and committed men forward which left us space to counter-attack," Rooney added.
