A host of pinpoint golf shots and a deadly touch with the putter helped Tiger Woods to move within sight of his first victory in a full-field event for more than two years at the Abu Dhabi Championship on Saturday.
The former world No 1 fired a sizzling six-under-par 66 to join Britain's Robert Rock (66) in a tie for the lead on 11-under 205.
Swede Peter Hanson returned the best round of the week, a 64, giving him a share of third place on 207 with world No 3 Rory McIlroy (68), fellow Briton Paul Lawrie (68) and Italian Francesco Molinari (66).
“I was just kind of consistent today,” the American said in understated fashion. “I didn’t do a whole lot wrong and didn't do a whole lot right. I played methodically, just plotted my way round the golf course and the birdies just piled up.”
Meanwhile, India’s SSP Chowrasia (72) sank a birdie on his closing hole of the second round to make the midway cut. Chowrasia finished the second round with a card of even par 72 and was two-over for 36 holes and finished right on the cut line at tied 59th. Jeev, who started Round 2 at three over, had three birdies in the first six holes after starting from the 10th.
