It’s been a ‘double’ delight for the National Sports Club of India (NSCI). Not only are they orgainsing the first ever squash tournament in their premises, but also hosting a doubles event in a one-of-its kind doubles court in the city.
The doubles court has impressed one and all, including national coach Cyrus Poncha. The tournament director, Chetan Malhotra said, “We are the only club in Mumbai to have a specialised doubles court.”
Playing for the first time on a proper doubles court, three-time junior national champion Saumya Karki said it would take time to get used to it. “This court is one and a half times wider, so I couldn’t find my rhythm in the beginning. But I was happy to play in the court meant just for doubles. It is indeed a shot in the arm for squash in the city.”
