"We should have taken those catches, though one of them was very tough. It did make a difference," Dhoni said after the game.
The Indian skipper said that the lack of contribution from himself, Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir did hurt India's chances in the run chase. "It is difficult when you come so close to victory and yet lose. It really hurt us, especially since we were chasing 350. It is not every day that a team comes so close to victory after chasing such a big target. And we came so close. Sachin Tendulkar played a special innings. He has hit 45 hundreds so it is difficult to pick the best but this should be up there with his best. Tendulkar and Raina batted really well and at that time we were in with a chance in spite of some of us not scoring," Dhoni added.
However, the Indian skipper tried to find some positives in the defeat. "I believe that losses like this will bring the team closer." two bookies held The Versova police on Thursday arrested two bookies while they were accepting the bets on the India-Australia 5th ODI. They have been identified as Navin Mehara, 46, and Hemant Joganpura, 48.
"Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a raid at a bungalow, near Seven Bungalows in Andheri (West) and caught the duo accepting bets on the match," sub-inspector Hanumant, Borade said.
