Davis Cup holders Spain will be without world number one Rafa Nadal when they take on France in the quarter-finals in Clermont-Ferrand next month.
Team captain Albert Costa called up Fernando Verdasco, David Ferrer, Nicolas Almagro and Feliciano Lopez for the tie, the Spanish federation said on its website (www.rfet.es) on Tuesday.
Nadal, who is through to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, has been struggling with his troublesome knees again recently, and has ruled himself out of the encounter.
"It always a setback (to be without Nadal) but the players who are going are very good," Costa told a news conference.
The tie takes place July 9-11.
