World champion Sebastien Loeb edged closer to his seventh consecutive title when he won the German rally with a dominating performance on Sunday.

The 36-year-old Citroen driver led the rally from day one and ended the final "Circus Maximus" inner-city stage in Trier with an overall 51.3-second advantage over fellow Citroen driver Dani Sordo from Spain, back in the main team after contesting Rally Finland with the company's junior squad.

Citroen made a clean podium sweep with junior team driver Sebastien Ogier in third place, one minute 22 seconds behind fellow Frenchman Loeb.

Ford's Jari-Matti Latvala came in fourth with Petter Solberg in fifth with his Citroen.

This was Loeb's 59th world championship win and his eighth in a row at the German rally.

He leads the title race on 191 points, 58 ahead of second-placed Ogier.
