Mumbai: With elections approaching, the temperatures seem to be rising in the Mumbai Cricket Association. On Monday, the heat was turned on Sharad Pawar, president of MCA for the last eight years. Ravi Sawant, vice-president under Pawar, resigned from his post over differences on some issues with the MCA president. Sawant was not available for comment but it was learnt that he was unhappy after Pawar overruled his proposal on a certain issue connected to clubs.
It is learnt that Sawant had met Pawar on Monday morning to discuss the issue, but the MCA chief, apparently, was not willing to climb down from his position.
A member of the Bal Maddhalkar group, Sawant's was serving his last term as the vice-president of the MCA.
MCA joint secretary PV Shetty. "Yes I have got an sms that he has resigned but I can't say anything on why has he resigned as I am in Bangalore right now," he told DNA. The Mumbai Cricket Association's biennial elections will be held on July 10.
