Indian Overseas Bank continued their winning streak by defeating Railways 83-63 in the 7th Savio Cup All-India Basketball Tournament at Don Bosco in Matunga on Wednesday.

The first quarter was a close one, as both sides were still finding their feet. However, IOB stepped up their game in the second quarter, and within moments were all over their opponents. By half time, IOB were ahead by 21 points, with the scoreboard reading 38-17. IOB have looked menacing throughout this tournament, and their forwards showed why.

Any angle they shot from found the target, leaving their opponents ruffled. IOB were in an inspiring form. Aravidh A, scoring 20 points, was the main architect of their win. He was well-supported by Paul Adilekh, who managed 24 points. The defeat comes as a setback for the railmen, who had lost to Punjab on Tuesday night.

In an earlier women’s match, Southern Railway, led by international Geethu Anna Jose, virtually stamped their name on the title with a 72-61 victory over South East Central Railway. Geethu scored 35 points.

Geethu, the only Indian player to have a trial stint in the WNBA, looked unstoppable.

Late on Wednesday, national champions Punjab romped to their third win on the trot, beating Railways 92-81 in an entertaining encounter.
