Lifestyle issues are believed to have triggered the split between tennis star Sania Mirza and her childhood-friend Sohrab Mirza forcing them to call off their relationship. The families of both the Mirzas have declared that there is a break-up. They had got engaged in July 2009.
Sania Mirza’s father Imran said that the decision to call off the engagement was primarily due to the incompatibility between Sania Mirza and Sohrab.
“It was very much a mutual decision. Sania has already said there was incompatibility between the two and they both came to us. The families have been very close,” Imran said.
Though Sania too is believed to have wished Sohrab good luck, sources close to the family said that the two were not getting along well. “Though Sohrab’s family is definitely richer than Sania’s, there is a difference in the stature. This automatically brings in the lifestyle issues,” a source said.
Unconfirmed sources also said that Sania often disliked the way Sohrab was talking back on various issues. Known to be a soft-spoken person, Sohrab started serving the verbal volleys which were not appreciated by Sania.
However, the families of the Mirzas refused to get into the details. Imran Mirza said that the details were not known to them. “It was their decision and they told us that there was no compatibility,” he said.
