India beat South Africa by 21 runs in the only twenty20 International here today.

Rohit Sharma cracked a brilliant 34-ball 53 to guide India to a competitive 168 against South Africa in the only Twenty20 International here today.

Rohit blasted five fours and two sixes and shared 49 runs in 29 balls with Virat Kohli (28) and another 42 runs with Yuvraj Singh (12) to set the foundation for a good total.

Suresh Raina (41) then provided the late charge and added 26 and 32 with Yusuf Pathan (6) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (10) to take India beyond the 150-mark.

Earlier, opener Murali Vijay gave India a positive start after skipper Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Brief Score:

India: 168 for six in 20 overs (Rohit Sharma 53, Suresh Raina 41; Jaun Theron 2/39).

South Africa: 147 for nine in 20 overs (Morne van Wyk 67; Ashish Nehra 2/20, Yusuf Pathan 2/22).
