Railways clinch men’s national crown

Indian Railways retained their men’s Super National Kabaddi title by beating Haryana 44-26 in the final at the Bharatiya Kreeda Mandir on Sunday. The Railways thus completed a double as their women’s team had lifted the women’s crown.

True to their reputation, the railmen showed no mercy as they crushed an in-form Haryana with sterling performances from Asian Games star Rakesh Kumar and Manjit Chillar.

Railways’ women’s team had defeated Maharashtra 30-22 in the final. The winners of both categories earned a prize money of Rs2.10 lakh each. The runners-up had to be satisfied with Rs1.40 lakh each.

Best raiders: Deepika Joseph (Mah); Surjeet (Har)
Best defenders: Suvarna Bartakke (Mah); Manjit
Chillar (Rlys)

Players of the Tournament: Mamata Poojari (Rlys); Nitin Madane (Mah)
