Pronoy, Aditi make the splash

Niyati accounts for the lone record in the girl’s section.

MUMBAI: Pronoy Adhikary and Aditi Mutadkar emerged champions in the three-day Greater Mumbai Amateur Aquatic Association swimming meet here on Sunday. At the Tata swimming pool, Pronoy and Aditi finished with five gold each, but it was Aditi who outshone Pronoy with three meet records under her belt.

Aditya Kamath, Yudhishthir Jaising, Karan Jaising took the honours in the boys’ section, while Vijayalaxmi Shanbagh and Rujuta Bhatt shone among the girls. Khar Gymkhana emerged as overall champions with 403 points, followed by Goenka & Asso Education Trust and Otters Club in second and third positions respectively. Mulund Swimming Pool and Khar Gymkhana took the top spots in the boys and girls sections respectively. Niyati Dalal of Khar Gymkhana set the only record in the girls’ section while five records were rewritten by the boys on the final day. Niyati erased Nimisha Gupta’s record (2:57.52) when she clocked 2:56.44 in the girls (group I) 200m backstroke event. Ribayah Memon (Otters) finished second.

Results: Boys (Gr-I) 200m (back stroke): Rahul Kakkad (JVP), Sagar Patil (Khar Gym), Rishabh Khatter (Otters); 400m (IM): Pronoy Adhikary (MSP), Aasheesh Deshpande (GAET), Soham Shaligram (Khar Gym); 50m (Fly): Aditya Kamath (GAET), Maninder Bhumra (Ozone), Jay Choksi (JVP); 50m (Fly, Gr-III): Sameer Salvi (MSP), Apurva Sharma (MSP), Anadi Mishra (Ozone); 200m (Free): Yudhishthir Jaising (Otters),Sujay Shah (Khar Gym), Rahul Sharma (MSP); Girls: 200m (back stroke, Gr-I): Niyati Dalal (Khar Gym), Ribayah Memon (Otters).
