Prakhar, Chinmay post wins in U-12 Guj ranking tennis

Ahmedabad: Prakhar Vyas and Chinmay Suryavanshi registered fluent victories in the Astral Poly Technik Gujarat state ranking tennis championships to move into the third round of the under-12 boys' category, at the SRAG Academy courts in Ahmedabad on Friday. Vyas disposed of Abhi Panchal 6-4 in the best-of-11 games match, while Suryavanshi knocked out Munj Patel 6-2, in all-Ahmedabad clashes.

Meanwhile, Kunj Kotak of Vadodara was the lone winner among the players from other cities in the tournament. He thrashed Neeraj Asnani 6-0 to qualify for the last 32. Four boys from outside Ahmedabad went down to local talent in the second round of the under-12 category. Saulabhya Matra sent Anand's Tanay Sharma packing 6-4, Antiksh Saxena of Baroda battled hard against Ayush Thakkar before bowing out 5-6 (3-7 in the tiebreak), while Yash Shah trounced Krishna Yadav of Gandhinagar 6-1.
Parth Patel posted the easiest win, 6-0, against Anand's Vedant Sharma.

In all-Ahmedabad action, Upamanyu Sinha, Shulin Saraswati and Salil Motiani recorded identical 6-4 wins to make the round of 16, defeating Parth H Shah, Alekh Chudgar and Karnik Kalani, respectively, in the boy's under-12,

The sixth outstation player, Tanay Yadav of Gandhinagar, also made his exit, in the under-16 third round, beaten 1-8 by Shubham Patel. One of the favourites for the title, Dishit Nathwani, saw off Vinayak Gupta 8-2.
