A few astrological factors were compromised during MS Dhoni’s hurriedly-arranged wedding on July 4. On the personal front, the India skipper will have a long-lasting, trouble-free marriage but the Sun and Mars, indicators of power and success, were adversely placed at the time of the muhurat and hence post marriage, his career graph could see more troughs than peaks.
In his birth chart, Dhoni has a ‘clean’ 7th house and he doesn’t have any planets in the 8th house or the 12th house. This means, his married life should be peaceful, blissful and scandal free. His wife Sakshi is emotionally strong and would be a big moral support to Dhoni.
But, his career may not be as glorious as it was before the marriage. Dhoni is currently running through Rahu dasa and Shani (Saturn) antardasa. He got married in this Shani antardasa and this period concludes only in May 2012.
This is not particularly good news from an Indian cricket’s point of view. The 2011 World Cup is happening during this period and Shani may cast its long shadow on the India skipper. Dhoni may find it very difficult to replicate his 2007 World T20 success in the World Cup next year. He was going through a favourable Jupiter antardasa back in 2007 and, of course, he was also a bachelor then.
Needless to say that if he fails to win the World Cup in 2011, there would be a clamour for him to relinquish his captaincy. In 2012, he may step down from captaincy to concentrate on his batting and wicket-keeping. Thankfully by this time, the Shani antardasa would be over. He would re-invent himself as a great role model and mentor to young cricketers during this patch. His greatness will never be in doubt.
The Champions League T20 would be an acid test. He led CSK spectacularly to win the IPL-3, but would find it difficult to achieve similar success in South Africa.
Finally, when he retires gracefully, he would have established himself as one of the greatest cricketers ever. The only hitch being that whatever he has achieved before marriage would stand out better!
