“This is just a tip of the iceberg, many more skeletons will come out of the cupboard,” said KPS Gill. The former IHF president said the case required a police enquiry not a committee probing into it.

“This probe is ordered just for a formality. Hand over the case to the police and they will do a better job,” the former supercop told DNA.

Gill revealed that Kaushik was once asked to vacate the post as he was found favouring certain players. “We did receive some complaints and we asked him sit out of the team,” said Gill. “Now, it is left to the concerned people handling the case to do justice.”

Gill was not aware of the name of the girl involved in this particular episode. “I have no clue about the player. Whoever she is, I must say that it needs a lot of courage to come forward and bring such things to public notice.”
