It’s a prospect that can send the dwindling TRPs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) skyrocketing — Usain Bolt, the fastest man on Earth, getting ready to bowl to Sachin Tendulkar!

Bolt is awaiting an offer from an IPL team to show his cricketing skills to the world. He is sure that if he can get Chris Gayle, the world’s most explosive batsman, out with his pace bowling, others won’t have any doubts about his ability. “You very well know who the biggest star in the IPL is — Chris Gayle. And I have got his wicket. No need to say anything more!”

He is not the first athlete to express interest in playing the cash-rich IPL.

Yohan Blake, his closest rival in the 100m and 200m races, had earlier expressed his desire to play T20 cricket in India. Bolt said he is an avid fan of the shorter version of the game and has been following it closely. “I love cricket. Twenty20 is the game for me and whenever I get time, I try to catch up with as much IPL action as possible,” Bolt said after his historic double whammy at the Olympics.

In a message to his fans in India, the Jamaican sprinter said he was waiting to showcase his cricketing skills to them. “I know I have a lot of fans in India and it will be great fun playing in front of them. Let someone offer me a chance, I will play,” he said.

His fans are waiting for him to visit India. He was supposed to participate in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, but cancelled his trip at the last minute to take rest. Now that he says he is bowled over by cricket, it will be up to the owners of IPL teams to make an offer to him that he won’t be able to refuse.
