Nikita Bathe emerges winner at Pune's MTB event

Nikita Bathe and Ashok Captain won the Open MTB event in the women’s and men’s categories respectively in the Lifecycle Sinhgad cycling championship on Sunday.

Nikita timed 53 minutes to cover the distance of 11.5 km, while Captain clocked 45 minutes for the same distance on a prefect day for cyclists.

The race, which was organised by MG’s Sports & Fitness and Lifecycle mall, was flagged off from Donje Phata.

Abha Chaubal and Ashwini Oak finished behind Nikita, while Darshan Barguje and Santanu Gogate were second and third respectively in the men’s segment.

In the Hybrid category, Nishit Biniwale won the trophy in the men’s segment. The winners took home Orbea, Merida and Raleigh cycles along with Venkys gift hampers.

Kamlakar Zende, the four times Mumbai-Pune cycle race winner, international Kerman Framna along with Manish Sabade, Ulhas Joshi and Mahendra Gokhale were the others present at the valedictory function.

Results:

Men's open: Ashok Captain, Darshan Barguje, Santanu Gogate; hybrid: Nishit Biniwale, Vishal Pawar, Amit Jadhav; Above 40 hybrid: Prashant Tidke, Brad Pit, Avinash Amane

Women's open: Nikita Bathe, Abha Chaubal, Ashwini Oak; hybrid: Ludmilla Lamont, Chaitrali Pawanaskar, Tejashree; MTB: Vasanti Joshi, Gayatri Joshi, Vinita Jadhavrao; hybrid: Anjali Bhalinge, Avanti Biniwale.
