Keeping in mind former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's concern for development of Himachal Pradesh, a newly built cricket stadium was today dedicated in his name in Hamirpur district.

Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal inaugurated the new stadium named after Vajpayee on his birthday today, saying the former PM had a soft-corner for the hill state and had approved many developmental projects for it.

The stadium was built by Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) at Nadaun at a cost of Rs5 crore.

It has been completed in a record time of eight months and is in the series of 12 cricket stadiums, one each in all 12 districts of the state, Anurag Thakur, who heads HPCA, said on the occasion.
