Nashik District Cricket Association (NDCA) has been awarded as the best Cricket Association in Maharashtra by the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) and will be felicitated at a special function in Pune on Sunday. MCA celebrates its platinum jubilee on Sunday in the presence of ICC vice-president and union minister for agriculture Sharad Pawar and BCCI president Shashank Manohar.

Formed in early 1960s, NDCA became a registered body in 1972 but the real activity in terms of development of the game and players started in 2003, when 18-member team led by president Dhanpal Shah took charge.

“As players, we had suffered a lot, we had gone through the hard times and we did not want struggling players to have the same experience,” states Ratan Kuite, secretary of the association.

“This is a proud moment for all of us who love the game and strive so hard to better it on district level. The transformation of Nashik’s cricket scenario as seen toady is the credit of the huge dedicated, passionate team in Nashik. Some hold offices but most don’t. All are people with varied skills and they utilise them to their fullest. Of course, during this journey the guidance provided by MCA and its president Ajay Shirke has been of great support,” states Shah.
