Shah Rukh Khan is used to instant success as the fate of his films is known in the first three days of the release. The superstar’s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders took five years to win a title. Three days later, the feeling was yet to sink  in for the man who has touched skies as far as his Bollywood career is concerned.

While talking to the media at his home Mannat on Wednesday, a day after a huge victory parade on Kolkata’s streets, Shah Rukh looked exhausted but that did not curb his excitement. He was cheerful, charming and, as usual, a couple of hours late for a press conference that was supposed to start at 4pm.

“Finally, the monkey is off the back now,” was his reply when asked about the victory that KKR tasted for the first time in five editions. “The greatness of the team is how well they have gelled together. I know the boys have felt the pressure of working for a team of a film star. So, I am happy that the pressure is off,” he said.

“(Gautam) Gambhir’s decision to stick to players who have not been in good form did wonders. The players kept backing each other. If today Jacques (Kallis) cannot perform, Manoj (Tiwary) will do the job or Yusuf (Pathan). Don’t be taken by the fact that only I have to go and play. That aspect helped the team.”
Meanwhile, he did not clear the air over the controversy with the Mumbai Cricket Association. His answer was the same that he apologised to his kids and his fans for his behaviour on May 16 night after the Mumbai Indians-KKR match at the Wankhede. He said he was “ashamed”, “embarrassed” and “apologetic” after that night’s incident. However, there was no direct apology to the MCA from SRK whatsoever. “My fight is not with the association. It is with an individual. I don’t want to get into this. Neither am I with the association nor apologising to the association. If you are walking away and some comment is being directed at you, it is better to be thick-skinned and be silent. So, I have to be a little more patient. Every association has their rules and they should follow it.”
Khan also has plans of starting cricket academies in Bengal.
