Hockey India president AK Mattoo insisted that he wanted to speak to the five disgruntled players who were skipping the national camp. “I want to hear their side of the story. It is wrong on their part to just skip the camp without giving anyone the actual reason,” Mattoo told DNA.
Prabodh and Ignace Tirkey, VS Vinay, Hari Prasad and Ravi Pal Singh gave the national camp in Pune a miss after a fallout with chief coach Jose Brasa.
“We need the services of those players because of the experience they bring into the side. They are very much a part of our World Cup preparations and we cannot afford to lose them because of a small fallout. Having said that, they owe us an explanation for their behaviour. We will try to convince them to join the team but if they remain stubborn, we can’t help it,” Mattoo said.
