Mumbai: How things would be in the Mumbai Hockey Association was always going to be intersting. It lived up to the expectations when the newly formed body took charge.

The new committee met on Friday at the premises of the MHA in Churchgate for the first time and the 13 members, from the same faction, virtually stripped secretary Kehar Singh of all his powers for the time being. Various resolutions were passed at the meeting that lasted for about two hours. While most of the members hoped that the meeting would be a routine one, it ended with the committee deciding to serve a showcause notice to Kehar for allegedly misbehaving and refusing to share the minutes file, the court files, member's register and other documents with other members.
"He walked out when the committee insisted him to give the files. It is the property of the association and he cannot behave like this. So we have unanimously decided to strip him of his powers until he replies the notice," said Joaquim Carvalho. When contacted, Kehar said he will respond to the court notice.

Carvalho was appointed the official spokesperson of the MHA. It was also decided that all the bank accounts of the MHA will be handled by the president Mangha Singh Bakshi, treasurer Bal Govind Chokhani and committee member Bal Malkit Singh.

Besides, the committee decided not to raise the issue of the letter written by Gurbux Singh to the president demanding an enquiry into the election process for the secretary's post, in the meeting.
It was also decided to celebrate the ongoing 75th year of the MHA in grand fashion in October, by organising a tournament and inviting international teams for it.
