Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has sensationally opened the door to a £20 million summer move to Manchester United.

When asked directly about United's interest, Reina said: "Yes, well Van der Sar will hang up his gloves in the summer so of course they are looking."

United can sign the goalkeeper by paying the £20 million get-out clause in his contract.

The 28-year-old, who had joined Liverpool in 2005 and has a contract until 2012, however insisted that he would not contact United directly.

"I can't say anything logically as I have a contract with Liverpool. Of course one likes to fight for titles and be in a team that does that," the Sun quoted Reina, as saying.

"We always fought to be in the Champions League and try to win the title. But unfortunately it hasn't been the case in the last couple of years," he added.

Earlier, United goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar had confirmed that he will hang up his gloves in May.
