NEW DELHI: Veteran spinner Anil Kumble on Wednesday made a veiled attack on cricket coach Greg Chappell, saying his style may have created insecurity among players.

"Yeah, probably because of the way he has approached. That is his style, that is the way he has approached," he told NDTV when asked if there was a feeling among players that they were more insecure under Chappell.

Asked whether he thought Chappell tried to use the media as a force multiplier to achieve his ends vis-a-vis the team, Kumble was evasive saying, "No, I think it is the media which will have to answer this question".

When told that media takes what it gets and as a bowler would he not exploit any opportunity on a turning wicket, the spinner shot back "any opportunity yes... but I would not go and ensure that I get a turning wicket. This is not the way I play my cricket".

Kumble hoped that "things will be a lot more clear once the meeting (BCCI meeting in Mumbai) happens."

He said there has been a lot of speculation and the focus on the Indian cricket team per se has increased now with more television channels than two years ago when John Wright was the coach.

Commenting on the Chappell-Tendulkar controversy, former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu said these things should be discussed in the dressing room. "When it gets into the open, it is in bad taste."

Sidhu said that Chappell has not commented so far and he has not blamed anyone openly. "It is all speculation. So let's not read too much into it."

Another former cricketer Ajay Jadeja came in support of Tendulkar observing that "there has never been a doubt on his integrity, his credibility. There won't be a single day when Sachin Tendulkar's comment has changed."

Jadeja said Tendulkar was not a person who would come out and reply to people and the press.

"I am actually happy to see Tendulkar come out and speak as well," he said.
