Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today dismissed former cricketer Vinod Kambli's match-fixing allegation against former skipper Mohd Azharuddin, who is now a party MP, terming it as biased sensationalism.

However, party spokesman Rashid Alvi steered clear of the allegation saying actually, I do not have any details in this regard. My knowledge of cricket is not thorough.

He spoke in a similar vein when told that Sports Minister Ajay Maken has called for a probe into the claims but another Minister Rajiv Shukla, who is a BCCI office bearer, did not give any importance to Kambli's allegations.

Digvijay Singh hailed Azhar as a great cricketer, a great skipper and above all a great human being.

Singh, who is in charge of party affairs in Uttar Pradesh, in his Tweet dismissed as biased sensationalism the claim by Kambli.

Kambli's allegations against Azhar is biased sensationalism. Why did he have to wait for 15 years?, Singh asked. Azharuddin is Congress MP from Moradabad in UP.

Kambli has created a flutter by claiming that something was amiss in India's loss in the 1996 World Cup semifinal against Sri Lanka.
