Q; Your ranking has seen a dip after a long time. What’s the reason?
A; I’ve been playing badminton for over 15 years and there’re always ups and downs. Moreover, there have been a lot of young players who play well these days and I’m happy for that.

Q: Are you planning to retire after the London Olympics?
A: Just wait and see.

Q: What are your plans once you decide to stop playing professionally?
A: One of my plans is continuing my dedication for badminton by opening a training package and facilities named Taufik Hidayat Arena in Indonesia. My team and myself will design the training package.

Q: Who has been your greatest rival out of the other three?
A: Like I said earlier, there have been a lot of good and young players and I always find it challenging playing with the young players.

Q: Other Indonesian singles players have found it difficult to come out of your shadow. What kind of future do you see for them?
A: They’re getting there hopefully. With age and experience, they will get better.

Q: What will Indonesia have to do to produce another Hidayat?
A: (Laughs) Someday and somehow, I’m sure Indonesia will have a good single badminton player.

Q: How is your preparation for the London Olympics going?
A: I have a few bad and good weeks, but I’ve kept it up.

Q: All-England jinx still very much there?
A: Hahaha…try my luck next year if I’m not retiring.
