A cricketer’s performance on the field reflects off it. On the eve of Pune Warriors’ match against Delhi Daredevils at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, skipper Yuvraj Singh seemed to be in a jovial mood and why not? This year belongs to him.

His contribution with the bat and ball was instrumental in getting India the much-awaited World Cup after 28 years.

Post the quadrennial event, he is enjoying his time as the captain of Pune in the Indian Premier League with two successive wins in the pocket. There is camaraderie among the players and teammate Robin Uthappa claims he enjoys playing under his captaincy.

“I have played only two games in his captaincy. He looks after the team well. And have enjoyed it so far. The atmosphere in the dressing room is very good. He’s definitely changed. He’s a lot calmer and lot funnier. I’m loving his captaincy so far,” said Uthappa.

The Warriors’ captain is optimistic of his team’s chances in the match against Delhi and he has circled their skipper Virender Sehwag, who is not in form, as the danger man for Sunday’s game.

“Sehwag is a great player. You can plan against great players but if they get going they will win the match for you. We will have our plans for him. I hope he takes it easy against us tomorrow,” Yuvraj told mediapersons.

With two back-to-back wins against Kings XI Punjab and Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Pune is one of the hottest properties in the league. However, Yuvraj feels they can’t afford to be complacent if they want to put up a good show.

“It’s nice to have two wins in a row. (It is Important) not to get complacent. Delhi is a top side and it is important to have plans against them and execute them. We got four quick wickets in the first two games. It’s not going to happen everyday. But still we have to make our plans,” Yuvraj said.

Meanwhile, Delhi, who were blown away by Mumbai Indians in their first match, courtesy — Lasith Malinga’s five-for, had put up a decent performance against Rajasthan Royals with the bat, but the bowlers failed to defend the challenging target of 151.
Sehwag will be the man to watch out for in the game as he is yet to click with the bat, but their bowlers will have to put in double hard-work, considering Warriors’s high-profile batting line-up.

Daredevils coach David Shipperd said, “Win is very crucial for us tomorrow. It was disappointing to lose the first two games. We have to do something different tomorrow and may be bounce and swing can be a good option. We are not playing as a team. We hope to get the combination right on Sunday.”
