Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has revealed that ace midfielder Steven Gerrard's season could be over after he had to cut short a training session on Friday after feeling a sharp pain in his groin.

The Liverpool skipper had hoped to play a part in game at West Brom after groin surgery.

Dalglish, who also lost defenders Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger to injuries during Saturday's 2-1 defeat - said: "Steven turned and felt a sharp pain. It's the same area but not the same injury."

"I don't know when he will be back. I've got to look at what the damage is. It's the same with Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger. Then we'll be in a better position to tell you," The Sun quoted him, as saying.

"It was innocuous as were the two lads' injuries - both Glen and Daniel did it when they were running. Daniel's injury we think is a tendon behind his knee and Glen looks as if he has damaged a muscle," Dalglish said.

Gerrard, 30, had an operation on March 11 in a bid to cure the problem, which has restricted him to just eight of the club's last 18 Premier League games.

Dalglish said: "To lose three players in April would be a blow for anybody. It's disappointing for Steven because he was training really well and looking forward to being back in among the lads."
