India versus Sri Lanka one-dayer halted over unfit pitch

Umpires halted play in the fifth one-day international between Sri Lanka and India on Sunday due to the unfit nature of the pitch, after the tourists had toiled on the tricky surface to reach 83 for five in 23.3 overs.

Tillakararatne Dilshan (20) and Sanath Jayasuriya (31) were both struck on the arm after Sri Lanka were asked to bat first on a two-paced wicket with some deliveries springing up from a good length, while others kept low.

Players left the field after match referee Alan Hurst had a mid-pitch meeting with the field umpires.

A final decision on the match is expected shortly.

India hold an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
