British tennis star Andy Murray reckons that US Open chiefs should follow Wimbledon's lead and build a roof over their courts to ensure uninterrupted play.
The force of Hurricane Irene — which hit the state of New York this weekend, has held up the British No 1’s latest Grand Slam charge, the Sun reports.
Flushing Meadow chiefs now fear today's scheduled start to the final Slam of the year will be disrupted.
Transport systems were closed on Saturday in preparation for the storms and the Flushing complex was a no-go area yesterday, with Sky Sports forced to dismantle their on-site studio.
World No 4 Murray had to train indoors while still not knowing if his first-round clash with Indian Somdev Davverman will be tomorrow or Wednesday.
Murray said: "I don't understand why they don't just have covers. I am sure that they are thinking about doing something, but I guess it takes time to push it through."
