The Army Adventure drivers had a field day, completing five stages of the 10th edition of Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm national rally on Wednesday.

At the end of Stage Five, former champion Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik were in the lead in the Xtreme class. Lt Col Subodh Verma and Col Rajesh Singh were placed second, while Anwar Khan and Shadab Parvez were in third position. Lt Col Rajiv Suhag and Lt Col KS Shekhawat were the leaders in the Ndure class. “It has been good so far. We hope to maintain the momentum and regain the title we won in 2009,” said Rana.

Former champion Gaurav Gill did not have a good day as a suspension problem slowed him down. “There is still a problem, but we came up with one of the best times of the day,” said Gill.

Jayesh Desai, one of the members of Northern Motor Sport added, “Nobody is the winner until the last stage. It is still an open affair in both the Xtreme and Ndure class.”
