So this is it, guys — an opportunity of a lifetime you don’t want to miss. Not often do you see a Formula One car zipping down the city’s streets. In fact, it will be the first-ever Formula One roadshow in Mumbai.

Motorheads will have a chance to get up close and personal with a Formula One car on Sunday at Bandra reclamation. And the man who will be the centre of attraction — David Coulthard — is geared up to go as fast as possible to give the city the taste of what Formula One is all about. Besides zipping down the sea link, he is also expected to do some 360 degree spins.

And the way he spoke on Saturday during the car firing at the Sea Link, he’s not even concerned about the speed limit. “I just heard that there is a speed limit of around 100kmph. But I don’t intend to drive in India again, so I might well go flat out,” said Coulthard.

The Red Bull technical officials also confirmed that the engine might go up in flame if they adhere to the 100kmph speed limit. “To make sure the engine doesn’t blow up, David has to touch 200kmph on Sunday,” said Tony Burrows, support manager of the Red Bull Racing.

But with car going at such a slow speed the team is not taking any chance. “This car is being designed to fast and only fast. With David doing some burn-outs the engine will heat up. As a precaution we have fans and dry ice cages behind the radiators which should keep the engine cool,” Burrows said.

The fans are also eagerly waiting for the spectacle. “Finally, I can see Formula One car in action. It will be hot but it doesn’t matter. It will be a lifetime experience as I don’t know when I’ll again see an F1 car,” said Ameya Kulkarni from Dadar. And yeah, make sure you bring along earplugs as the decibel levels of an  F1 car at full throttle can be deafening.
