The alleged snub to Pakistani cricketers at the IPL-III auction has not affected other sporting ties between the two countries. Though the Pakistani Kabaddi Federation (PKF) had earlier cancelled its tour to India this month for a five-match series as a mark of protest, it has agreed to play the tournament at a neutral venue, in all probability, Abu Dhabi.
Pakistani media reports said the two nations have reached a consensus on the issue and a final decision will be taken shortly.
“The circle wing of the Kabaddi Federation of India filed a case with the home ministry two weeks ago and is awaiting a response,” said Muhammad Sarwar, PKF secretary. He added, “I had a telephonic conversation with the secretary-general of the circle wing of the Kabaddi Federation of India and got his consent on shifting the series to a neutral venue — Abu Dhabi — if it cannot be held in India for whatever reasons.”
“Though the United Arab Emirates is experiencing a financial crisis, we are hopeful of getting some sponsors and hold the series in a befitting manner.” The Indo-Pak kabaddi tournament was to start on Thursday.
