Hockey India may have just saved itself from the doldrums but the country’s boxing federation is in the pink of health. In a heartening development, four companies have shown interest in claiming exclusive marketing rights of the Indian Boxing Federation (IBF).

DNA has reliably learnt that Percept, IMG, Infinity Optimal Solutions (IOS) and Leisure Sports Management all submitted their proposals to the IBF on Saturday. The sport’s umbrella body will now hold one-on-one discussions with the interested parties — on February 4 or 5 — before taking a final decision.

“Around six to eight companies were interested, but these four have submitted their proposals,” IBF secretary-general PK Muralidhar Raja told this newspaper. What IBF is looking at is to leverage their properties and generate revenue for the running of the organisation.

“The interested parties will have to agree to a minimum guarantee and decide on a profit-sharing ratio to our requirements,” explained Raja.

The company, which finally wins the right to become IBF’s marketing agent, will also possess the ‘right to refusal’ to promote the Indian Series of Boxing (ISB) which is being planned right after the World Series of Boxing (WSB).

“We are looking at them to assist us in hosting national and other international events in India,” Raja said. ISB is expected to hit the floors in March 2011.
