Former Kerala volleyball captain PK Sunilkumar was found hanging at his residence at nearby Wellingdon island here last night.
He was 32. He leaves behind his wife and a daughter.
Sunilkumar, who was a brilliant playmaker, was a member of the Cochin Port Trust volleyball team.
Port sources said Sunilkumar did not turn up for practice for the last two days. His friends went to his residence but got no response to repeated knocks on the door, after which they broke it open and found him hanging.
The body was later taken to his native village Narikkuni in Kozhikode district, they said.
Sunilkumar joined Cochin Port in 2000. He had played a key role in the Federation cup volleyball championship at Ludhiana in 2001 to help the team win the title.
