NEW YORK: Olympic silver medallist Sasha Cohen said on Tuesday she was confident she would be ready to compete at January's U.S. nationals for a berth in the Vancouver Games despite a calf injury that has marred her preparation.

Cohen pulled out of a grand prix event last month in Paris and skipped last week's Skate America in Lake Placid, New York, due to tendonitis in her right calf and has not competed since taking bronze at the world championships in March 2006.

"I was smart to take the time to heal," the 25-year-old Cohen told Reuters. "I'm not having any pain or problems anymore. Now it's just about making up that lost time. I feel confident two months is plenty of time to ... skate my best at nationals."
